September has been a great month for Danish forest photography – though I won’t be sharing any of these in this month’s round-up, as there are a backlog of photos from the latter part of our late summer trip.

I’ve also added Hypothesis annotation funcionality to the website, so if you feel like commenting feel free to do so (select the text you want to annotate and a pop-up should open).

Alpine awe

We had an absolutely fantastic day hike in the Swiss alps (Vaud canton)! Here’s the trip information (we added another ~7 km descent back to Gruyon, which we’d highly recommend). The Swiss alps are stunning, and it’s hard not to feel awe at the scale and depth of the landscape. This hike definitely whetted my appetite for the alpine environment, and I know that I’ll be back to explore more.

Photo of the month

The scale of the Swiss alps blows my mind. Having a hiker in the mid ground helps give a sense of scale.

Interesting things I’ve read/watched

Trees are cool. Here’s a neat collection of root system drawings so you can see what they look like underground.

Nice essay about intent in art, and why we should’nt think that chatbots have intent.
